Software-only, for device companies

Medical device firmware written to your hardware team's specification.

Elevate Aura writes the firmware that runs a medical device: core logic, state handling, power management, sensor reading and communication, in C/C++ or MicroPython, to the specification your hardware team hands over. Tested on your hardware, delivered ready to flash, with documentation your team keeps.

What medical device firmware development means here

Medical device firmware development is writing the software that runs on the device's own controller: how it starts, the states it moves through, how it reads its sensors, how it manages power and how it talks to a phone, gateway or cloud. Elevate Aura writes that layer in C/C++ or MicroPython to the hardware specification your team provides.

It is a software-only engagement. Your team designs the board, chooses the controller and sensors and owns the regulatory route. We write the firmware, test it on the hardware you send, and hand it over ready to flash with documentation your team can use in its own regulatory submissions. We do not design PCBs, manufacture anything or certify the device.

The firmware problem

The hardware is done. The firmware is a prototype that grew.

Many device teams reach a working board with firmware that was written to prove a point, not to ship.

States nobody wrote down

The device behaves differently after a brownout because the state machine was never defined, only implied.

Power budget missed

Sleep and wake were handled last, so the battery life on the datasheet and the bench do not match.

Sensor timing that drifts

Readings are taken in the main loop with delays, and the sample rate wanders when comms are busy.

No documentation for the file

The submission needs a description of what the software does, and the only description is the code.

In practice

What a firmware engagement looks like.

A monitoring device with a defined state model

Workflow: Idle, measuring, alarm, charging and fault are defined with your team, then implemented as a state machine with logged transitions.

Result: The device behaves the same way every time, and the behaviour is documented.

A battery device that lasts as long as the spec says

Workflow: Sampling, radio and display are duty-cycled and the controller sleeps between them, measured on your board.

Result: Power draw is known before the enclosure is sealed.

A device that must report to an app

Workflow: The firmware exposes a BLE profile, and a companion app built on the same engagement pairs, reads and controls it.

Result: Both sides are written to fit, by one builder.

Questions

Medical device firmware, answered.

Do you handle the regulatory side?

No. Regulatory strategy, submissions and certification stay with your team. We deliver firmware with design, interface and test documentation that your team can use in its own regulatory submissions, but we do not claim compliance with any standard on your behalf.

Which controllers and languages?

C/C++ for most production controllers, MicroPython where the board supports it and the timing allows. We work to the chip and toolchain your hardware team has chosen rather than asking you to change. See embedded C/C++ development.

Do you design or build the hardware?

No. This is a software-only engagement. We do not design PCBs, source components, manufacture, or do mechanical or enclosure work. Your hardware team provides the board and the specification; we write and test the firmware on it.

Who owns the code?

You do. The firmware is delivered ready to flash with source, build instructions and documentation, and your team can maintain it or hand it to another engineer without depending on us.

Can you also build the app and cloud side?

Yes. The same engagement can include a companion app in React Native and a telemetry pipeline on Supabase or Azure, so the firmware, app and cloud are written to fit. See medical device app development.

How is the work scoped and priced?

Fixed scope per project, agreed after a call about your controller, sensors, states and comms. There is no published rate card; the plan and timeline are given after the spec is understood.
